Job summary

Aon Life Solutions is seeking an AI Developer to design and build GenAI-powered solutions for PathWise modeling, with close collaboration from actuaries and tech teams.

You will prototype, test, and refine AI capabilities, emphasizing governance, security, and production-ready tools within a fast-paced, adaptable environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in Python software development, including AI/ML or GenAI.
• Experience with LLMs and GenAI frameworks such as LangChain, OpenAI APIs, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test GenAI-powered solutions for PathWise modeling, build, test, and document activities.
• Implement RAG-based solutions with document ingestion, embeddings, retrieval strategies, and prompts.
• Build, refine prompts, tools, and workflows to improve AI applications.
• Support testing by measuring performance, identifying improvements, and documenting findings.
• Turn prototypes into production-ready tools with core development and infrastructure teams.
• Evaluate AI solutions for accuracy, reliability, security, and responsible use; raise issues to seniors.

AI Developer - Pathwise

Role Type: New position

As an AI Developer within Aon Life Solutions, you will help design and develop innovative Generative AI solutions that support actuarial modelling and business decision-making. Working closely with actuaries and technology professionals, you'll contribute to building AI-powered tools that drive efficiency, enhance knowledge discovery, and bring value for clients across the global insurance industry.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada. This role is not eligible for sponsorship, and we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa or work permit.

The salary range for this position is {CAD $96,425 - CAD 125,400}. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

What the day will look like

AI Agents, Prototyping & Development

• Design, develop, and test GenAI-powered solutions to support PathWise model design, build, testing, and documentation activities.
• Contribute to the implementation of RAG-based solutions, including document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, retrieval strategies, and prompt development.
• Build, refine, and evaluate prompts, tools, and workflows to improve the effectiveness of AI applications.
• Support testing activities by measuring solution performance, identifying areas for improvement, and documenting findings.
• Help turn successful AI prototypes into reliable, production-ready tools, in close collaboration with core development and infrastructure teams.(new – from colleague feedback)
• Evaluate AI solutions for accuracy, reliability, security, and responsible use, raising issues and recommendations to senior team members as needed. (new – from colleague feedback)
• Collaborate with actuaries and business collaborators to gather requirements and translate them into practical AI solutions.

Governance, Safety & Best Practices

• Follow established AI governance, security, and compliance standards.
• Assist in implementing monitoring, evaluation, and observability practices for AI solutions.
• Ensure responsible use of AI technologies and proper documentation of models and workflows.

Collaboration

• Partner with actuaries, PathWise users, product managers, and development teams to deliver innovative AI solutions.
• Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, design discussions, testing, and code reviews.
• Share knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the team.

As an AI Developer, you will work alongside experienced actuarial, product, and technology professionals to build and enhance Generative AI solutions that improve modelling, testing, documentation, and knowledge discovery. This role offers the opportunity to develop practical AI applications while gaining exposure to complex actuarial and financial modelling environments, with mentorship and guidance from Senior AI Developers and other experienced team members.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in Python software development, including experience working with AI, machine learning, or Generative AI technologies.
• Experience working with LLMs and GenAI frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, OpenAI APIs, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with RAG architectures, vector databases, embeddings, and prompt engineering concepts.
• Experience developing REST APIs and integrating external tools and services.

• Understanding of software development guidelines, including testing, version control, and CI/CD processes.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies such as Azure and modern development tools.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to actuarial, insurance, financial services, or quantitative modelling environments.
• Experience with Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, or other cloud-based AI platforms.
• Familiarity with MLOps or LLMOps concepts and tooling.
• Interest in learning about insurance, actuarial modelling, and financial risk management.
