Job summary

Aon plc in Canada is seeking a Python Developer to join the Strategy and Technology Group (STG). You will design, develop, and maintain Python tools and libraries for PathWise actuarial and financial modelling, and build Azure DevOps pipelines.

The role requires 4+ years of Python experience, familiarity with NumPy, Pandas, CI/CD, Agile, and collaboration across actuarial and tech teams. Hybrid work in Toronto; salary CAD 96,425–125,000 with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience developing software products, tools, or applications using Python.
• Experience building maintainable, tested, production-quality Python applications or libraries.
• Strong proficiency in Python; experience with NumPy, Pandas, and SciPy is an asset.
• Familiarity with unit testing, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and software quality practices.
• Hands-on experience with DevOps processes, including automated build, test, and deployment workflows (e.g., Azure DevOps).
• Experience in Agile environments and across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, and Git.

The salary range for this position is CAD $96,425- 125,000. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

What the day will look like

• Design, develop, and maintainPython tools, libraries, and frameworksthat support PathWise actuarial and financial modelling, including standard templates and reusable components.
• Build and enhanceautomation solutionsfor model implementation and DevOps processes, simplifying workflows for modelling actuaries and other non-developer users.
• Contribute to the development of thePathWise Python modelling layer, including standard classes and templates used to orchestrate models, control data flows, and perform ETL-style processing.
• Develop and maintainAzure DevOps pipelines, utilities, and engineering tools that improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability of PathWise-related solutions.
• Apply and promote software quality practices, including maintainable design, unit testing, code reviews, and use of CI/CD pipelines.
• Partner with actuarial, technology, and business teams to understand requirements, solve complex challenges, and deliver practical, well-engineered solutions.
• Contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle in an Agile environment.

• Exposure to cloud technologies, High-Performance Computing (HPC), automation tools, or AI/ML is beneficial but not required.
