This hybrid, 1-year contract role focuses on defining AI architecture, governance, and platform strategy across Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Azure OpenAI, and related services. You will collaborate with AI and data engineers, business leaders, and security teams to design scalable, secure, and compliant AI solutions for Retail Banking, advancing responsible AI practices and strategic AI

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in enterprise architecture or related leadership roles.
• 3+ years of experience with AI, ML, generative AI, or advanced analytics platforms.
• Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise technology architectures.
• Experience leading complex technology initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience developing architecture standards, governance frameworks, and roadmaps.

Title: AI Architect
Location: Edmonton, AB (Hybrid)
Status: Full-Time Contract (1-Year)

Position Overview

Our client is building an enterprise AI Factory to reimagine Retail Banking through the strategic adoption of artificial intelligence. This initiative is focused on transforming customer experiences, employee productivity, banking operations, and service delivery through practical AI solutions.

As the AI Architect, you will be responsible for establishing the AI architecture, technical standards, governance frameworks, and platform strategy that support the organization's AI Factory. Working closely with AI Engineers, Data Engineers, business leaders, and technology stakeholders, you will define how AI technologies including Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Claude, Azure OpenAI, and Azure AI Services are leveraged to create scalable, secure, and compliant solutions.

This role is ideal for a strategic technical leader who combines deep architecture expertise with hands-on knowledge of enterprise AI platforms and a passion for transforming Retail Banking through responsible AI adoption.

What You'll Do:

AI Strategy & Architecture

• Define and maintain the enterprise AI architecture roadmap aligned with Retail Banking transformation objectives.
• Establish architectural standards, patterns, and best practices for AI solution development.
• Design scalable AI platforms, frameworks, and services that support rapid delivery through the AI Factory.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend solutions that align with business and technology strategies.
• Develop reference architectures and reusable design patterns for AI initiatives.

Retail Banking Transformation

• Partner with Retail Banking leaders to identify opportunities for AI-driven innovation and modernization.
• Shape AI-enabled customer and employee experiences across digital, branch, mobile, and contact centre channels.
• Support transformation initiatives involving customer onboarding, lending, servicing, payments, and relationship management.
• Provide architectural leadership for AI initiatives that improve operational efficiency and customer outcomes.

Copilot and Claude Strategy

• Define the organization's approach for leveraging Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Claude, Azure OpenAI, and other AI platforms.
• Develop architectural guidance for a multi-model AI ecosystem.
• Establish model selection criteria based on business requirements, security, governance, cost, and performance considerations.
• Support the design of AI agents, assistants, and intelligent workflows that leverage multiple AI technologies.

AI Platform & Solution Architecture

• Design enterprise AI platforms supporting generative AI, agentic AI, workflow automation, and knowledge-based solutions.
• Provide architecture oversight for AI applications, integrations, APIs, and enterprise systems.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with organizational standards.
• Collaborate with AI Engineers and Data Engineers to establish AI development and deployment frameworks.

Knowledge Architecture & RAG

• Define architectural approaches for Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions.
• Guide the design of enterprise knowledge repositories, semantic search capabilities, and vector-based information retrieval.
• Support strategies that improve the quality, accuracy, and trustworthiness of AI-generated outputs.
• Ensure information architecture supports enterprise AI adoption objectives.

Responsible AI & Governance

• Establish governance frameworks for AI solution development and deployment.
• Ensure AI architecture aligns with privacy, security, compliance, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop standards for model evaluation, monitoring, explainability, and responsible AI practices.
• Participate in risk assessments and governance reviews for AI initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to AI Engineers and Data Engineers.
• Collaborate with business, technology, security, data, and operations teams.
• Translate complex technical concepts into practical business recommendations.
• Act as a trusted advisor on AI strategy, architecture, and industry best practices.

Mandatories:

• 8+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, application architecture, or related technology leadership roles.
• 3+ years of experience working with AI, machine learning, generative AI, or advanced analytics platforms.
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise technology architectures.
• Experience leading complex technology initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
• Experience developing architecture standards, governance frameworks, and technology roadmaps.
