Job summary

Midwest Co-op is seeking an Agronomy Intern to gain hands-on experience in crop scouting, sampling, and data collection under the Agronomy Manager. The role includes field operations, grower engagement, and research activities, with exposure to precision agriculture tools and in-field tasks.

The position offers a path to a student bursary upon successful completion of the summer contract, as well as opportunities to learn about agronomic practices, software systems, and field operations.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Agriculture or related field.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Comfortable using basic technology (phone, apps, computer software, GPS).
• Willing to work flexible hours during busy season.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field scouting for weeds, crop staging, and insect presence across various crop types.
• Collect and process nitrate samples in corn field.
• Monitor insect traps.
• Take crop tissue samples for nutrient analysis.
• Pull soil samples for agronomic evaluation.
• Assist with data collection at research plots and MiField sites, including notes and photos.
