Job summary

The City of St. Catharines is seeking a Shift Supervisor, Municipal Operations to coordinate after-hour emergencies and maintenance for roads, water and wastewater systems. You will lead up to 7 staff, potentially 21 during winter, ensuring safety and timely repairs.

You will work with Unit Supervisors, pursue CRS-I and/or C.Tech designations, and handle incident reports and coordination for continuous municipal operations.

Qualifications

• Two-year Community College Diploma in Civil or Construction Technology.
• Five years of relevant field experience in pavement, boulevard and traffic system infra.
• CRS-I or higher certification from Ontario Road Supervisors and/or C.Tech or higher.

Responsibilities

• Respond to after-hour reports and dispatch staff for emergencies.
• Oversee after-hours operations and coordinate with Unit Supervisors.
• Maintain safety standards and ensure proper PPE usage and training.
• Issue overtime call-outs and assign personnel and equipment.
• Monitor road closures and traffic diversions for events.
• Maintain documentation and prepare concise incident reports.
• Develop and maintain competency in infrastructure operations.
