Job Description: Clinic Nurse

Location: The Peterborough Clinic, 26 Hospital Drive, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada

Date: April 29, 2025

Primary Responsibility

The Clinic Nurse is required to work within their scope of practice and collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to deliver excellent patient-centered care. As a key member of the team, your focus is supporting patients to maximize their health and wellness. You will collaborate with physicians and staff to ensure efficient clinical care and resource use, maintaining office organization and patient flow while adhering to strict confidentiality policies.

Working Hours

The hours will vary weekly, including shifts from Monday to Friday between 4 PM to 8 PM and Saturday & Sunday from 9 AM to 1 PM.

Tasks and Duties

• Perform all technical duties within the scope of a registered practical nurse.
• Maintain inventory of office drugs, immunizations, and supplies used in procedures.
• Place time-sensitive orders for medical supplies.
• Respect patient dignity and privacy by maintaining confidentiality of personal health information.
• Process patient information through the EMR system, update records, and obtain diagnostic results prior to appointments, including using the hospital EMR (EPIC).
• Communicate effectively with referring physicians and clinic staff.
• Provide excellent service to patients and staff through positive interactions, follow-through, and courteous, timely responses.
• Ensure all medical services performed by physicians are documented for OHIP and third-party billing.
• Prepare and tidy exam rooms, direct patients, and ensure smooth patient flow.
• Assist physicians with exams and patient counseling.
• Respond to emergency codes within the building to assist distressed patients.
• Perform any other duties necessary for the smooth operation of the clinic.
