Aerospace Trainee/Apprentice
General Summary
The Apprentice Nondestructive Testing (NDT) technician will assist the Technician or Senior Technician in performing inspections using various NDT techniques to identify corrosion, defects, or detrimental conditions according to specific written criteria. The Apprentice may calibrate instruments or perform other duties under the supervision of a certified Technician or Senior Technician.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to company and customer safety standards and practices, and legal regulations, while alerting others to potential hazards.
- Perform all duties as assigned and uphold TEAM's Core Values.
- Assist the Technician or Senior Technician with NDT inspections. Study to gain NDT certifications while gaining hands-on experience in various NDT methods.
- Perform any duties assigned by the Technician or Senior Technician at the worksite.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Understanding of basic math.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and working with computers/computerized equipment.
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English.
- Travel requirement: 0-75%.
- Ability to handle chemicals safely.
- Ability to follow instructions.
Work Conditions
- Position based out of a branch or site location.
- Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in a plant environment.
- Interaction with crew employees, supervisors, and client personnel.
- Work in plant or shop areas around production machinery with high noise levels.
- Must wear safety equipment as required for personal protection.
- Potential to work at multiple job sites in a day and tolerate climate changes.
- May require periodic out-of-town travel.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to walk and climb, except during non-field duties.
- Effective communication skills, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Sufficient observation skills to conduct investigations.
- Sufficient manual dexterity for routine office duties.
- Mobility and reflexes to perform office duties and travel to off-site locations.
- Ability to maneuver within refinery or plant environments, including access to elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
- Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively.
- Excellent communication skills.
