Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing strategic communication plans for Customer Care and Billing.

  • Maintaining channels: intranet, email, digital displays; support governance and training.

EPCOR’s award-winning Communications & Public Engagement (CPE) team is looking for an experienced communicator to join us as a full-time temporary Advisor, Communications for up to 11 months, based in Edmonton, AB.

Communication plays an important role in building trust, engaging employees and helping customers understand what matters most. As an Advisor, you’ll help shape how information is shared and understood, bringing strategic thinking and hands-on execution to a variety of communication initiatives and channels.

You’ll balance day-to-day execution with strategic planning to deliver clear, timely and meaningful communications to the right audiences at the right time. In alignment with the CPE team’s goals, you’ll help inform and engage employees across the organization while educating customers about the utility market, EPCOR’s services and the topics that matter to them.

As EPCOR continues to strengthen our brand and pursue new opportunities, you’ll play an important role in helping us communicate clearly, build understanding and create meaningful connections with our employees and customers.

What you’d be responsible for
  • Developing and executing strategic communication plans, primarily in support of Customer Care and Billing, that deliver timely, accurate and engaging information to employees and customers.
  • Managing the day-to-day delivery of communication projects, identifying opportunities, recommending solutions, and ensuring activities support business and communication objectives.
  • Creating compelling content and communication materials, including intranet articles, emails, videos, digital displays, presentations, graphics, key messages, and stakeholder engagement resources.
  • Maintaining and enhancing communication channels and tools, including the intranet, email, and digital displays, while supporting governance, documentation, training, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborating with teams across the organization to deliver integrated, consistent, and effective communications that support shared goals.
  • Supporting and executing key initiatives, events, campaigns, and special projects that help inform and engage employees and stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and managing shared communication channels, responding to inquiries and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Leading reporting and analytics to measure the effectiveness of communication activities and inform future strategies and recommendations.
  • Participating in a rotating on-call schedule as an after-hours media spokesperson.
  • Demonstrating a high-performance, accountable, innovative, and client-focused approach while contributing to a safe and collaborative work environment.
What’s required to be successful
  • A D iploma in C ommunications, M arketing, Public Relations or a related field is required
  • A D egree in C ommunications, M arketing, Public Relations or a related field is considered an asset
  • 4 + years of experience in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field is required
  • Experience related to utilities, electricity or the energy sector
  • Knowledge and use of current digital channels and engagement platforms
  • Ability to apply effective communications/public relations and customer experience fundamentals to every project
  • Strong research, writing and editing skills
  • Understanding of digital/web concepts, techniques and trends
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Microsoft SharePoint

Hours of work: 80 hours biweekly

Wage: Starting at $ 49.93 per hour

  • Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
  • A requirement of working for EPCOR is that you are at least 18 years of age, successfully attained a high school diploma (GED, or equivalent level of secondary education) and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
  • If you are considered for the position, clearance is required on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational, and/or credit) and professional reference checks. Some EPCOR positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.
  • A technical/practical assessment may be administered during the selection process and this exercise will be used as a part of the selection criterion.
  • To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.
  • P rior infractions for unsafe driving behaviours will be evaluated and considered for non-selection regardless of current demerits on file .
