We are hiring two full-time permanent Manager, Financial Planning & Regulatory Reporting positions based in Edmonton, AB. Reporting to the Associate Director, Regulatory & Forecast, you will lead a team responsible for EPCOR Distribution & Transmission's (EDTI) annual budgeting, forecasting, revenue requirement development, and regulatory filing activities. This role plays a key part in supporting strategic decision-making, regulatory compliance, and financial planning across the business.

As the Manager, Financial Planning & Regulatory Reporting you will lead EDTI’s annual budget and forecasting processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting is provided to managers and senior leadership. You will develop, analyze and review IFRS and regulatory accounting transactions to support the Distribution Performance Based Regulation (PBR) and Transmission Cost of Service (COS) regulatory filings. You are a collaborative and organized professional who takes initiative, manages competing priorities, and identifies opportunities to improve processes and reporting.

What you’d be responsible for
  • Leading a team responsible for delivering EDTI’s annual budget, forecasting, revenue requirement development and regulatory filing requirements, including:
    • Developing timelines, processes and schedules to support the timely and accurate completion of the annual budget.
    • Partnering with Managers and Directors to gather, analyze, and consolidate budget and forecast information for corporate budgeting and regulatory filings.
    • Using Adaptive Insights budgeting software to develop EDTI’s annual budget, calculate revenue requirements, generate ad-hoc reports, and support regulatory and financial reporting requirements.
    • Reviewing budget, forecast, assessing key assumptions, drivers and risks, and providing recommendations to support informed decision-making.
    • Leading and participating in budget review meetings with management and senior leadership.
    • Preparing financial supporting information, drafting applications evidence and narrative sections and information requests for both the PBR and COS applications.
  • Collaborating with EPCOR affiliates to forecast intercompany transactions and Service Level Agreements. Additionally, supporting compilation of year end reporting requirements for submission to the Alberta Utilities Commission.
  • Developing, implementing and enhancing budgeting, forecasting and regulatory reporting processes to ensure compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing team, including recruitment, employee development, and succession planning.
  • Arranging training to ensure that technical knowledge of employees is current, and that all employees have the technical skills they require.
  • Ensuring team deliverables are aligned and integrated, with EPCOR D&T Finance’s performance metrics and strategic plan.
What’s required to be successful
  • CPA designation and a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis (minimum 5+ years) .
  • Experience leading, coaching, or developing team members (minimum 2+ years).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess results, identify key drivers, and provide meaningful insights.
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting systems, including a solid understanding of financial reporting structures and general ledger design.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of utility regulation, regulatory accounting and the Alberta electricity industry is considered an asset.

This position requires a proactive individual with strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. You possess a high attention to detail, work effectively across cross-functional teams, and demonstrate sound judgment, influence, and strong interpersonal and leadership skills. A strong work ethic and commitment to continuous improvement are essential.
