Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or Engineering or a Diploma in Computer Engineering/System Technology or MIS.
  • 3+ years of supervisory or team lead experience; proven ability to lead high-performing technical teams.
  • 8+ years of related IT experience, ideally with enterprise applications and strategic project delivery.
  • Experience with large and complex database-driven applications with multiple interfaces.
  • Ability to react with urgency to troubleshoot critical issues in application availability situations.
  • Knowledge of GIS, Power or Water Utility concepts is an asset.

We are hiring a Full-Time Permanent GIS and ADMS Manager position working out of Edmonton, AB. We welcome applications from internal and external candidates.

EPCOR manages more than 7,000 km of electrical infrastructure and over 6,000 km of water, wastewater, and stormwater networks that deliver essential services to Edmontonians and customers across North America. Behind these critical assets are the technology systems that help EPCOR understand where infrastructure is located, how it is connected, and how data can be leveraged to drive operational insights and informed decision-making.

As the Manager, you oversee the GIS and Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) portfolio within our Application Services team. In this role, you are responsible for the operation and support of EPCOR's CAD/GIS and ADMS application suites, ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of systems that are critical to our business.

Through this work, you will lead the teams managing technology platforms that are essential to EPCOR's operations, enabling informed decision-making and the delivery of critical services to our customers.

Where We Work: This position is eligible for our hybrid work program, offering the flexibility to work remotely while requiring a minimum of two days per week onsite.

What you’d be responsible for
  • Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics.
  • Providing input to the Business Management Applications Support plans and directions.
  • Developing and maintaining long-lasting relationships with key business users within respective areas to ensure delivery of appropriate results.
  • Ensuring specific and measurable scheduling and delivery of work across team members.
  • Developing, building and leading a team of high performing system analysts that readily take on the challenges of the business and provide exceptional support to their end users.
  • Responding to system availability issues with the required urgency and oversees root cause analysis on issues as a way of proactively preventing them in the future.
  • Ensuring resolution of customer issues in a timely manner by the team members to foster positive relationship with all customers.
  • Developing and nurturing a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented work force that is easy to do business with.
  • Ensuring that all application services departmental policies and processes are followed.
What’s required to be successful
  • A post-secondary Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or a Diploma in Computer Engineering/System Technology or Management Information Systems
  • 3+ years of supervisory or team lead experience
    • Those with a proven ability to build and lead high-performing technical teams will be given preference
  • 8+ years of related IT experience, ideally with a focus on enterprise applications and strategic project delivery
  • Demonstrated experience with large and complex database driven applications with multiple interfaces
  • Demonstrated experience to deliver technical IS solutions to business requirements
  • Ability to react with urgency to troubleshoot critical issues when faced with application availability situations
  • Knowledge of GIS, Power or Water Utility concepts will be considered an asset
