Duties And Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Advancement Communications and Alumni Engagement, and being supervised by the Sr. Writer and Supervisor, Content Strategy, the Advancement Content Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing multi-channel communications strategies for a wide variety of University Advancement activities and audiences.

Qualifications

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills as well as a strong knowledge of Carleton University.
  • Excellent planning skills; understands critical paths, sets priorities and meets timelines.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Capable of effectively organizing and handling a heavy workload and working independently. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong professionalism, tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong client service ethic and high expectation for quality.
  • Creative thinker.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Excellent writing skills are required to prepare website information, print and marketing collateral, electronic newsletters, speeches, multimedia presentations, social media postings and more.
  • Ability to learn and keep up-to-date with digital tools and campus software (currently including Microsoft 365, Campaign Monitor, Foleon, Banner Advancement and other tools).
  • Photography and video skills are required.
  • Good judgment.
  • English language fluency is required.
  • Must have a commitment to innovation and adoption of new ideas, technologies and applications that will enhance stakeholder engagement with Carleton and advance Carleton’s strategic goals.

Education And Experience

The above is normally acquired through :

  • Completion of a 4 year university degree in journalism, communications, or marketing.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in marketing, public relations, communications or journalism, preferably in a university environment.
