Job summary

CAMH seeks a seasoned clinical leader to drive practice development and professional leadership across Forensic inpatient and outpatient services. You will mentor staff, supervise students, and advance care pathways to improve patient outcomes while participating in quality reviews and interprofessional collaboration.

The successful candidate will hold a Master’s in a health discipline (nursing preferred) with significant forensic mental health experience and a strong commitment to equity,

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a health discipline with regulatory standing.
  • Nursing qualification preferred; CPA/CNA certification asset not required but beneficial.
  • 5 years clinical experience in forensic mental health and addiction treatment; cross-appointment eligibility with University of Toronto Faculty.

Job Description

You will support point-of-care staff in the implementation and evaluation of best practices in the care of clients with psychiatric illnesses, concurrent substance use, and forensic histories. You will have extensive knowledge of Forensic mental health including assessment of risk and risk management practice. You will role model clinical practice in complex care situations; engage in direct care activities for complex and high-risk clients; support interprofessional collaborative care, academic and research opportunities; promote the implementation and audit of documentation standards; participate in or facilitate quality improvement projects and quality reviews focusing on patient safety. You will provide clinical supervision to staff as well as mentor/supervise graduate students. Together with Forensic Service leadership, you will contribute to model of care development, support implementation of new care pathways to advance patient outcomes, and contribute to program evaluation. You will participate on internal and external committees; and serve as a clinical resource and subject matter expert in program-level and work closely with the Professional Practice Office on organizational-level strategic planning and projects to advance clinical practice activities for both Forensic inpatient and outpatient services. Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a Master's Degree in a health discipline, nursing preferred, and will be a member of good standing with their regulatory body. In addition, 5 years clinical experience involving clients with forensic mental health and addiction treatment is required. Eligibility for cross-appointment with the corresponding University of Toronto Faculty is also required. Additional qualifications such as CNA certification in psychiatric/mental health, or other relevant certification is an asset.

You will have extensive knowledge of best practices for the care and treatment of mental health clients with high-risk behaviours and forensic histories, and have the ability to integrate this knowledge into client-focused clinical care settings within an interprofessional clinical environment.


You must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, teaching and computer skills. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.


Compensation & Benefits


  • Salary is competitive and based on experience, with a hiring range of $112,495.94 – $140,619.93 per year.

  • Employees in this role may progress within the full pay range of $112,495.94 – $168,743.91 per year
