Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in an automotive manufacturing environment, preferably in product development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development of new product concepts from ideation to commercialization.
• Identify opportunities based on market trends, customer needs, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead cross-functional teams and external partners to align development with business goals.
• Guide incubator sessions and drive implementation of new ideas.
• Oversee projects from concept through handoff, ensuring timelines and budgets.
• Engage with customers to capture feedback and refine concepts.
• Support IP and technology strategy, including patent filings.
• Deliver complete technical and marketing handoff packages to Product Engineering and Sales.

Global Headquarters – Ridgetown, Ontario, Canada

The Advanced Development Engineer is responsible for leading the end-to-end development of innovative product concepts from ideation through to handoff for commercialization. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong technical expertise who can navigate ambiguity, drive innovation, and align engineering solutions with business and customer needs.

This is a fully onsite position and requires daily attendance at our facility in Ridgetown, Ontario, Canada.

Occasional travel to the United States, Europe, and Asia is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in an automotive manufacturing environment, preferably in product development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience

Salary Range

Job Responsibilities

• Lead Innovation: Identify and define new product opportunities and enhancements based on market/technological trends, customer, and legislative needs.
• Develop & Validate Concepts: Create, analyze, and test innovative concepts using engineering tools and prototypes.
• Lead internal teams and external partners to align development with business goals.
• Lead Incubator Session Process: Assemble and guide cross-functional discussions to generate new ideas and solutions, and follow up to implementation
• Manage Projects: Oversee advanced development projects from concept to handoff, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
• Engage Customers: Interface with customers to generate excitement, gather feedback and refine concepts to meet their needs.
• Support IP & Technology Strategy: Contribute to patent filings and stay current with emerging technologies.
• Transfer Knowledge: Deliver complete technical and marketing handoff packages to Product Engineering and Sales.
