Job Overview:

The Cardiac Surgery department for ICU floor seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (APP).

The APP performs duties independently following established procedures, referring questionable situations to physicians. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, management, and reporting safety issues.

Qualifications:
  • Current NJ license as an APN/PA
  • NCCPA, DEA, CDS, ACLS, BLS certifications
  • Effective time management and critical care skills
  • Adaptability to a high-volume acute patient population
  • Procedural skills such as central line, arterial line, and chest tube placements are preferable
  • 2-5 years of cardiac surgery or critical care experience preferred; new graduates considered
Scheduling Requirements:
  • Per Diem
  • Day shifts
  • Weekend & Holiday rotations required
Essential Functions:
  • Administer injections, immunizations, oral medications, start IVs
  • Assist physicians with documentation, diagnostic orders, and transcriptions
  • Provide patient education and counseling
  • Bill for services per CMS and NJ regulations
  • Develop care plans, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and document appropriately
  • Examine patients, determine illness, and prescribe treatments
  • Order and review lab and diagnostic procedures
  • Perform procedures such as suturing, wound care, and emergency evaluations
  • Collaborate with physicians for diagnosis and treatment
