Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12 Diploma with at least one year of training or hands-on experience supporting individuals with cognitive disabilities (FASD).
• Experience providing individual or group support, mentorship, or counseling is an asset.
• Deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and impacts of intergenerational trauma and colonization.
• Ability to support, motivate, and guide adults using strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches.
• Strong verbal and written communication, including active listening and engagement across diverse backgrounds.
• Maintains ethical conduct, reliability, and integrity with vulnerable populations.
• Recognizes risk, intervenes calmly, and follows safety and reporting procedures.
• Works independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to undergo supervision and ongoing professional development.
• Provide a Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector clearance.
• Valid class 5 driver's license and a reliable insurable vehicle.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Adult Mentor plays a critical frontline role in supporting adults with cognitive disabilities who are navigating trauma, addiction, housing instability, and disconnection from community supports. Under the direction of the Adult Mentoring Team Lead, the Adult Mentor provides individualized mentorship, crisis response, housing assistance, and cultural engagement. This position requires a strong balance of empathy and accountability, ensuring clients receive consistent, compassionate, and culturally grounded support. Adult Mentor acts as a stabilizing influence in the lives of clients, building trust, promoting wellness, and supporting skill development.

Role demands emotional intelligence, resilience, and professionalism with Eagle Heart Centre universal competencies.
