Administrative Assistant, East Kootenay Teacher Education Program (EKTEP)

Position Type: Regular, Full-time Sessional (August-June)

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Dean of Health and Human Services, the Administrative Assistant provides comprehensive administrative and operational support to the East Kootenay Teacher Education Program (EKTEP), a partnership between the University of Victoria (UVic) and the College of the Rockies (COTR). The role directly supports the Manager, Teacher Education, and the Faculty Lead, acting as the first point of contact for the program.

The position requires sound decision-making, discretion in handling confidential information, and a proactive approach to supporting the program's ongoing development and quality. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications: Grade 12 or equivalent, OFAD certificate with Administrative Assistant Specialty or equivalent, and a minimum of 2 years related work experience. Experience with standard office equipment, proficiency in MS Office applications, and strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Ability to work within a time-sensitive environment with strict deadlines, both independently and as part of a team, is essential. The candidate must be able to develop respectful and effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external partners such as mentor teachers and supervisors. Proficiency in information systems (e.g., Colleague, FAST), learning platforms (D2L and Moodle), and other databases is necessary, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with excellent attention to detail. Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and negotiation skills are required, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals, including UVic and COTR leadership, faculty, staff, students, mentors, supervisors, and external partners.

Salary: Position#047, CUPE Internal, as per the CUPE Salary Schedule and Collective Agreement, Pay Level 4, $3,900.86 per month.
