Job description

Supervise all public works projects and staff, including equipment maintenance, ensuring compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal policies. Perform additional duties as requested by Council or the Administrator.

Salary : $32 Per hour

Location : McLean, SK

Hours : 7:00 am to 5:00 pm (Monday - Saturday)

Staff Supervisory Responsibilities :
  1. Inspect employee time sheets for accuracy regarding hours, sick leave, and duties performed; ensure signatures and proper notation of equipment details.
  2. Remit verified time sheets to the Administrator according to employee status and schedule.
  3. Ensure all staff receive necessary training, including administrative record keeping and compliance with policies.
  4. Verify all staff have completed required courses, such as Powered Mobile Equipment.
  5. Enforce PPE use and safety regulations per Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized work environment through staff scheduling.
  7. Supervise projects and staff duties, including equipment maintenance records.
  8. Implement progressive discipline policies when necessary.
  9. Report employee injuries to the Administrator for workers' compensation processing.
  10. Manage permit documentation and compliance with environmental and safety regulations prior to project commencement and upon completion.
  11. Coordinate site inspections with Saskatchewan Environment as required.
Additional Responsibilities :

Maintain detailed records of activities such as theft/damage, road damage, accidents, closures, and obstructions, including digital photos and mitigation measures.

Complete construction worksheets and activity logs for projects.

Ensure safety certifications and permits are obtained for vehicles and equipment.

Administrative Duties :
  • Order parts, tools, fluids, and supplies, with high-value items pre-approved by Council.
  • Arrange for installation of signs and culverts, obtaining quotations as needed.
  • Weekly visits to the municipal office to submit invoices, receipts, permits, and reports.
  • Monthly and annual reporting on employee time sheets, vehicle and equipment readings, and inventory.
