Job summary

The Canadian Mental Health Association – Cochrane Timiskaming Branch is recruiting an Addiction Support Worker for its Recovery Centre in Kirkland Lake on a permanent part-time basis. The role involves coordinating care for clients affected by addictions, mental illness, and dual diagnoses.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, bring crisis intervention skills, and support diverse client needs while upholding ethical guidelines.

Qualifications

• A college diploma in a core mental health discipline is preferred; other levels with relevant experience may be considered.
• Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers would be an asset.
• ASIST training is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and related legislation.
• Experience in the mental health and addictions fields.
• Understanding of complex issues related to addictions, mental illness, poverty, and homelessness; and the impact of social/cultural/economic determinants.
• Ability to engage a broad age range of clients with diverse and complex issues.
• Strong crisis and suicide intervention skills.
• Valid driver’s license from Ontario and access to a vehicle for work.
• Clear vulnerable sector police check.

The Canadian Mental Health Association – Cochrane Timiskaming Branch is currently recruiting an Addictions Support Worker for its Recovery Centre in Kirkland Lake.

In keeping with the Mission, Vision, Values of the Canadian Mental Health Association – Cochrane Timiskaming Branch (CMHA-CT), the Addictions Support Workers (the Workers) are members of a multi- disciplinary team who play key roles in the coordination of care and services for clients who are affected by addictions, mental illness, dual diagnoses and/or concurrent disorders. The Workers recognize and respect the individuality and uniqueness of each client, including their needs, values, beliefs, and choices.
