Job summary

The Canadian Mental Health Association - Cochrane Timiskaming Branch is seeking an Addictions Support Worker for the Recovery Centre in Kirkland Lake. This permanent part-time role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care for clients affected by addictions, mental illness, and related conditions.

You will engage with diverse clients, apply crisis intervention skills, and promote recovery-oriented practices within a compassionate, trauma-informed framework.

Qualifications

• A college diploma in core mental health disciplines is preferred.
• Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers would be considered an asset.
• ASIST training is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and related legislation.
• Experience working in the mental health and addictions fields.
• Understanding of complex issues related to addictions, mental illness, poverty and homelessness.
• Ability to engage and work with a broad age group of clients with diverse and complex issues.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong crisis and suicide intervention skills.
• Valid driver’s licence from Ontario and use of a reliable vehicle for work.
• Clear vulnerable sector police check.

Addiction Support Worker - Permanent Part Time

The Canadian Mental Health Association - Cochrane Timiskaming Branch is currently recruiting an Addictions Support Worker for its Recovery Centre in Kirkland Lake.

In keeping with the Mission, Vision, Values of the Canadian Mental Health Association - Cochrane Timiskaming Branch (CMHA-CT), the Addictions Support Workers (the Workers) are members of a multi- disciplinary team who play key roles in the coordination of care and services for clients who are affected by addictions, mental illness, dual diagnoses and/or concurrent disorders. The Workers recognize and respect the individuality and uniqueness of each client, including their needs, values, beliefs, and choices.

Qualifications:

1. A college diploma in one of the core mental health disciplines is preferred. Other levels of relevant education with experience in the mental health and addictions fields may be considered;


2. Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers would be considered an asset;


3. ASIST training is considered an asset;


4. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation related to the role;


5. Experience working in the mental health and addictions fields;


6. Knowledge and understanding of the complex issues related to addictions, mental illness, poverty, and homelessness, as well as the impact of social/cultural/economic factors on the determinants of health;


7. Understanding of and ability to work within professional and ethical guidelines;


8. The ability to engage and work with a broad age group of clients with diverse and complex issues;


9. Ability to meet tight deadlines and work in a fast-paced, often pressured, environment;


10. Strong crisis and suicide intervention skills;


11. Valid driver's license from the province of Ontario and use of a reliable vehicle for work purposes;


12. Clear vulnerable sector police check.
