Addiction and Mental Health Worker, Housing Always and Supportive Living

Direct Service - (OPSEU)

Full-time, Contract (End Date: December 13, 2025)

London, ON (London Zone)

Every person in our community has the right to safe, affordable, quality housing and to live with dignity and as much independence and choice as possible.

As a member of our team, you will support individuals experiencing addictions and/or mental health concerns who have struggled with housing stability. Your team will provide early support and intervention to prevent escalation of concerns, helping to keep clients housed.

Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Applicants residing in London are encouraged to apply for one promptly, as PVSC processing takes approximately 2 weeks and employment offers require receipt of a PVSC.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:
  • Starting wage is $27.14 per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a regulation-based differential ($30.01 for regulated Level 1). Registered professionals (e.g., OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the differential. External applicants start at Level 1, with progression up to Level 8 ($34.41 non-regulated, $37.26 regulated). Internal placement follows the Collective Agreement.
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm
  • Benefits: 9% in lieu of benefits
  • Pension: Immediate eligibility for HOOPP enrollment
HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
  • Support and motivate clients towards their goals.
  • Promote clients’ capacity for independent living.
  • Assist in maintaining suitable housing.
  • Facilitate resident meetings.
  • Provide education on addiction, mental health, and symptom management.
  • Engage in crisis intervention and prevention.
  • Coach clients in daily activities such as hygiene, chores, budgeting, and socialization.
  • Advocate for access to community resources.
  • Document client interactions accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and external agencies.
  • Manage emergency situations appropriately.
  • Make informed decisions independently and collaboratively.
REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:
Police Vulnerable Sector Check:

Must be completed within the last six months. London residents are encouraged to apply promptly, as PVSCs take about 2 weeks to process; employment offers depend on receipt.

Qualifications:
  • University/college degree or diploma in social sciences or related fields (original credentials required during hiring)
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Current PVSC
  • Ability to attend work regularly
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation
  • Experience in addiction and mental health fields
  • Experience in residential settings
  • Health and safety knowledge, including food handling
  • Training in crisis intervention, ASIST, First Aid & CPR
  • Bilingual in both official languages (preferred)
