Job description

We are looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst for a 9-month contract position, with possible extensions in Regina, Saskatchewan. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

This position is available as on-site, 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. The working hours are Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm. This is NOT a remote role.

Role Description

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst with a broad-based technical background and deep expertise in data management principles, business intelligence tools, and data architectural methodologies. The role involves designing and implementing technology solutions to support the company's digital transformation goals, including developing and optimizing SQL queries, creating and maintaining reports and scripts, and adapting to changing reporting needs.

The ideal candidate will oversee enterprise design and development, managing reporting integration and visualization of data from legacy and on-premises systems to new solutions. The role also requires a commitment to operational excellence, security standards, and compliance with relevant data protection regulations.

Responsibilities
  1. Communicate complex information effectively to diverse audiences.
  2. Collaborate with Business Units throughout the solution development process, from concept to delivery.
  3. Design and implement technology solutions supporting digital transformation.
  4. Apply Data Architectural Methodologies to ensure data system integrity and efficiency.
  5. Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  6. Oversee data integration and visualization from legacy and on-premises systems to new solutions.
Required Skills and Experience
  1. Minimum 10 years of experience in data management principles within a Business Intelligence or similar role in the last 15 years.
  2. Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Data Sciences, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  3. Extensive experience with Power BI and other BI reporting tools.
  4. Strong knowledge of Power Query and DAX within Power BI.
  5. Proficiency with cloud services such as Power BI Service, Microsoft Azure, and Databricks.
  6. Knowledge of Lakehouse architecture and Delta format.
  7. Ability to analyze complex datasets and derive insights for business decisions.
  8. Experience with Content and Data Management Programs, Governance, and security standards including PIPEDA.
  9. Experience collaborating with stakeholders from start to finish on solution development.
  10. Experience designing and implementing data architecture and mitigating project risks.
  11. Previous experience working in Canadian federal, provincial, municipal, or similar environments.
  12. Ability to write and optimize SQL queries, and create and maintain reporting scripts.
