Job summary

Providence Care Hospital in Kingston, Ontario, is hiring a Registered Practical Nurse to provide direct professional nursing care to patients in the mental health unit, using the nursing process in collaboration with the RN and clinical team.

The RPN will support patients toward independence and wellness, participate in goal‑oriented care plans, and perform interventions within scope, with CPR certification required and recent acute psychiatric experience.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse.
• Recent experience in an acute psychiatric setting.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Complete nursing history from patient, family and other sources.
• Develop and record goal-oriented nursing care plans with the patient.
• Perform interventions within their competence and available resources.
• Follow prescribed medical regimes accurately.
• Reassess plans based on evaluations and goals.
• Recognize unusual patient responses and consult as required.
• Revise nursing care plans based on professional judgment.
