Job summary

BayCare Health System's St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa Bay is seeking an Acute Physical Therapist Assistant who is passionate about patient care.

The role supports treatment plans and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care. The ideal candidate has an Associate's degree in Physical Therapy and PTA certification, with strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in acute care or hospital setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
• Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional ADL mobility interventions.
• Monitor and document patient progress, reporting changes to the supervising therapist.
• Educate patients and families on exercises and techniques to support recovery.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, physicians, and occupational therapists.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during therapy sessions.
• Adhere to infection control and hospital policies.

Acute Physical Therapist Assistant Key Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant)
• Or PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant) Temporary and licensure within 6 months
• Required Associate's Physical Therapy
• Preferred 1-year Physical Therapy Assistant
