ivari is part of Sagicor Financial Corporation, a leading financial services provider based in the Caribbean, with a strong presence in North America. We offer a wide range of products and services, including life and health insurance, annuities, pension administration and investment services.

At ivari, everyone is welcome! It is our mission to attract, develop, and retain a workforce that is as diverse as the customers we serve and the communities in which we do business. We offer an inclusive and accessible work environment where all employees and customers feel valued, respected, and supported.

Here's the job opportunity...

You will be responsible for conducting various actuarial tasks within the Corporate Actuarial Department of ivari, including analysis of drivers of earnings, business plans, sensitivity / shock testing, FCT (financial condition testing), and experience studies. You will also assist in the development of new corporate measures, as well as the implementation of new accounting standards and capital guidelines.

You will...

  • Ensure clear and concise communication to superiors, focused on business drivers
  • Provide value added analysis of results, focusing on earnings and capital
  • Become thoroughly familiar with actuarial valuation standards, CIA guidance material and OSFI guidelines in order to ensure accurate technical implementation
  • Become thoroughly familiar with the accounting and capital frameworks (IFRS 17 and LICAT 2025)
  • Coordinate and conduct periodic and ad hoc sensitivity testing
  • Become subject matter expert in the assigned line of business (understand pricing, valuation, capital, business drivers, drivers of earnings, etc.)
  • Provide expertise on streamlining the valuation and capital infrastructure, especially in the context of the current frameworks.
  • Improve the model governance aspects of the Corporate Actuarial department
  • Provide actuarial expertise on corporate initiatives and software / technology enhancements, fostering effective collaboration with key business partners, including Finance, IT, and Reinsurance

What we are looking for...

  • FSA or FCIA (preferred)
  • University degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7+ years relevant experience in the life insurance industry
  • Knowledge of individual life and annuity products
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to develop rigorous and efficient methodologies and models
  • Superior computer skills especially in the AXIS and Risk Integrity environment
  • Ability to set up detailed documentation that can be easily followed by qualified personnel
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex guidelines and program them in models
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, focusing on relevant information and being able to explain complex concepts in easily understandable terms to a wide range of audiences
  • Knowledge and experience with accounting and regulatory capital frameworks including IFRS 17 and LICAT
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Ability to work independently, lead initiatives and collaborate across departments
  • Autonomous in your development

What's in it for you...

At ivari, it's important for us to keep our people motivated, recognized, and rewarded. We offer competitive base salaries plus a bonus, one of the many reasons ivari is a great place to work.

We also offer health and dental benefits for the entire family from Day 1! But that's just the beginning. When you join the ivari team you also get...

  • A fantastic vacation plan and time off
  • A pension plan with 100% match by ivari
  • Employee savings plan with 75% match to help you save even more
  • Flexible and hybrid work arrangements
  • Opportunities for professional development
  • Recognition programs to cheer you on, motivate and reward
  • Wellness programs to keep you healthy and happy

Who you are...

Someone who enjoys a culture where everyone is genuinely respectful, and you can be your authentic self every day. Your contributions and opinions are not only sought but valued. You know the importance of, and live by, our core values of...

  • Bringing clarity and focus to your work
  • Taking ownership and doing what you say you will
  • Remaining flexible
  • Collaborating with others

Does this sound like you? We're looking for great people to join our team!
