Job summary

Pacific Life Re in Canada seeks a Manager in Corporate Actuarial (FCIA/FSA) to lead local reporting for Savings & Retirement. You will focus on IFRS 17 and LICAT, deliver insights to senior management, and coordinate with DBS and other actuarial teams.

Candidates bring at least five years in life insurance or life reinsurance, strong communication, and a track record of reporting improvements; a formal actuarial designation is required.

Qualifications

• Qualified actuary with minimum of 5 years’ experience in life insurance or life reinsurance.
• Experience in actuarial reporting functions.
• Experience with IFRS 17 reporting, including earnings, liabilities, CSM, and disclosures.
• Familiarity with insurance regulatory capital frameworks (LICAT, Solvency II, etc.).
• Experience with cross-jurisdictional reporting and international operations.
• Ability to lead process improvement and automation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain expertise in local reporting for S&R, focusing on IFRS 17 and LICAT.
• Own interpretation and maintenance of local reporting methodologies.
• Lead production, analysis, and review of IFRS 17 and LICAT results.
• Provide insightful analysis of earnings, reserves, and capital movements to management.
• Monitor accounting developments and recommend methodological enhancements.
• Support audits, regulatory reviews, and stakeholder requests with explanations.
• Contribute to a scalable local reporting capability for new bases and geographies.
• Support AVP on operational readiness for upcoming initiatives.
• Lead and mentor team members and foster a strong control environment.
