Job summary

TELUS Health is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join our Defined Benefits and Actuarial Services Consulting team in Canada. You will assess the financial health of pension plans, conduct valuations, analyze funding requirements, and ensure regulatory compliance with accurate and reliable financial analysis.

This hybrid role is based in Vancouver or Calgary, with candidates in these cities encouraged to apply or relocate.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Strong competency with MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the financial health of pension plans by conducting regular valuations (i.e. assets, liabilities, demographics, and investment performance).
  • Calculate pension benefits for plan participants based on service years, salary history, and retirement age; ensure compliance with plan rules and regulations.
  • Help plan sponsors determine the appropriate contribution levels for long-term sustainability of the plan.
  • Assist in design and modification of pension plans.

The Defined Benefits and Actuarial Services practice within Consulting is composed of a dedicated group of nation-wide professionals with extensive experience in the fields of pension & savings and actuarial consulting. We specialize in providing strategic guidance, expert analysis, and effective risk management to help our clients offer the best pension plan for their plan members. With a deep understanding of complex mathematical models and statistical analysis, our team excels in assessing and quantifying risks in the retirement landscape. If so, we are seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join our team. You will help support best in class pension programs by assessing the financial health of pension plans, conduct plan valuations, analyze funding requirements, and ensure regulatory compliance. What you’ll do
  • Assess the financial health of pension plans by conducting regular valuations (i.e assessing plan assets, liabilities, participant demographics, and investment performance to determine the funding status of the plan)
  • Calculate pension benefits for plan participants based on factors such as years of service, salary history, and retirement age; ensuring calculations comply with plan rules, government regulations, and actuarial principles
  • Help plan sponsors determine the appropriate contribution levels to ensure long-term sustainability of the plan
  • Assist in the design and modification of pension plans
You have
  • Post-secondary education in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
  • Strong competency with MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Salary Range

Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000 Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply, even if the posted salary range doesn't match your expectations. We're open to discussing competitive compensation packages tailored to your experience level and expertise.
