Actuarial Analyst

Location: Kingston (Hybrid)

Empire Life is looking to hire an Actuarial Analyst to join our Actuarial team for a rotation program! This individual must be located in Kingston/open to relocating to Kingston as this role will be working in a hybrid environment out of our Kingston office.

What you’ll be working on

  • Research actuarial issues, develop methods and solutions to support business strategy development.
  • Provide support to team members to aid in development of the team.
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal stakeholders to support the delivery of actuarial programs.
  • Contribute to projects that enhance the team's actuarial capabilities and business outcomes.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends and patterns within large data sets.

What we’re looking for you to have

  • Recent completion or nearing completion of your education in a relevant program such as actuarial sciences, math, finance, economics or statistics.
  • Advanced mathematical and programming skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven research, analysis, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.
  • If you are applying for a position which is open to applicants across Canada, unless otherwise indicated in the position, language proficiency in English is required for communicating with customers, advisors, or employees across Canada.

Nice to have:

  • Completion of a minimum of one exam through the Society of Actuaries or Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
  • Commitment to attain Associate designation through the Society of Actuaries and/or Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
