Job Summary


The Activity Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of all aspects of choosing, planning, and carrying out resident activities and outings to enrich the lives of the residents through social, recreational and educational programs at Padua House.


Duties/Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
•Develop and implement a diverse range of activities, events, and programs tailored to the needs and interests of residents.
•Design activities that encompass physical, cognitive, and social stimulation, including arts and craft, recreational sports, educational workshops and special events based on the residents interest
•Assist in purchasing items for selected activities
•Train and guide other workers as it relate to carrying out the activities.
•Promote participation in activities, encourage social interaction, and foster a positive and inclusive environment.
•Evaluate the success of activities, gather feedback, and make improvements to enhance the residents' satisfaction and well-being
•Maintain records and reports related to activity participation, attendance, and outcomes.
•Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants, adapting activities to suit varying abilities and preferences.
•Maintain open communication with residents, staff and administration to gather feedback and address concerns
•Supervise and train volunteers and support staff, providing guidance and support with interacting during activities
•Source and manage supplies and equipment for activities, ensuring they are readily available and in good condition.
•Develop activity schedules and calendars, ensuring a variety of activities are offered throughout the day, week, and year.
• Help prepare and participate in emergency evacuations.

• Performs other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Required Skills/Abilities:
This position requires sufficient knowledge and skills to make the activities and outings safe and enjoyable for the residents and to effectively train and monitor Direct Support Professionals implementation of resident programming. The individual must be able to maintain open communication with all levels of staff and external service vendors. Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.


Education and Experience:
This position requires a High school diploma and experience in recreation, hospitality, or a similar field (1+ years preferred). And at least 2 years of experience working with the intellectual disabled population.


Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift fifteen pounds at times. Physical Demands: Sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.

A. Stand less than 33% of time on duty.
B. Walk less than 33% of the time on duty.
C. Sit between 33% and 66% of time on duty.
D. Use of hands to finger, handle or feel over 66% of time on duty.

E. Reach with hands or arms less than 33% of time
F. Full ability to talk and hear.
G. Correctable vision required.
H. Able to lift/carry up to 35 lbs.
