Job summary

Winnipeg Regional Health Authority in Churchill, MB is seeking an Activities Worker to plan and provide recreational therapy for residents of Dancing Sky Personal Care Home under the direction of the Manager Health Services.

You will develop programs, organize social activities inside and outside the facility, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. A Grade 12 or equivalent is required; a degree in recreational activities or physical education is an asset.

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Manager Health Services, the Activities Worker plans and provides recreational therapy for each individual resident of Dancing Sky Personal Care Home. The Activities Worker is responsible for program development and social activities both inside and outside of the facility.

Experience
  • Previous experience working with the elderly or volunteer work with the elderly is desirable.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Must have grade 12 or equivalent.
  • A degree or certificate in recreational activities or physical education would be an asset.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden Door Geriatric Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
