Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking an Activities Aide in Rehabilitation Services to support recreation activities for Bayview Memorial Health Centre residents. The role involves implementing activity plans, partnering with the interdisciplinary team, and helping to enhance residents' daily lives.

The position is permanent part-time (52.5 hours bi-weekly), with compensation in the $21.61–$24.55 hourly range.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education is required.
• Recreation Therapy experience is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate daily with the Charge Nurse to deliver patient activity plans written by the Recreational Therapist.
• Contribute to the care plan by communicating feedback or observations to the interdisciplinary team.
• Support program delivery and participation activities for residents.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager and working under the direction of the Recreation Therapist, the Activities Aide is a member of the healthcare team, who works cooperatively and collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to enhance the quality of everyday lives of the residents of Bayview Memorial Health Centre.

Responsibilities include daily collaboration with the Charge Nurse in the delivery of patient activity plans as written by the Recreational Therapist and other programs/activities.

The Activities Aide contributes to the care plan by communicating with the interdisciplinary team any feedback or observations discovered while carrying out these activities.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

• Grade 12 education required
• Previous Recreation Therapy experience preferred
• Excellent communication skillsboth written and verbal
• Passion for event planning
• Previous experience working with seniors
• Dementia education is an asset
• Must be able to take direction and work as part of a team
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Benefits

$21.61 - $24.55 Hourly
