The opportunity

The Accounts Payable Coordinator / Team Lead is responsible for reviewing all supplier invoices before payment, ensuring compliance with firm policies, procedures, and service level agreements. The role includes applying tax regulations (GST/HST, QST, PST, Non-resident Withholding Tax), following up on rush payments, diarizing recurring payments, providing guidance to offshore teams, and delivering high-quality customer service to internal clients.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Review supplier invoices before processing, in line with firm policies and SLAs.
  • Ensure payments are made on behalf of the correct firm entity and bank account.
  • Process payment runs on due dates.
  • Transmit EFT and positive pay files to banks.
  • Determine payment urgency and method (cheque, wire, EFT).
  • Approve invoices and code to appropriate general ledger accounts, considering tax implications.
  • Apply relevant tax compliance regulations.
  • Attend periodic calls with offshore teams to monitor processing and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate tasks among staff to meet timelines and priorities.
  • Serve as a trusted adviser to internal clients.
Minimum Qualifications
  • University degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of accounts payable experience.
