General Description

As an Accounts Payable and Receivable Clerk at Waste Connections of Canada, you will support the District Controller with various tasks including monthly forecasting, annual budgeting, and special projects. Success in this role depends on a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and problem-solving abilities. We are seeking a safety-minded, energetic, autonomous, and proactive team player who can contribute positively to our team and community.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the district's PO system is accurate, complete, and all documents are approved.
  2. Provide detailed information (e.g., LOB, Cost Centre, description) for each purchase order, along with supporting documentation.
  3. Obtain approval and record PO numbers on invoices before processing.
  4. Process invoices against approved purchase orders within Toolbox.
  5. Manage p-card transactions within Toolbox.
  6. Create new vendor requests in Toolbox with supporting documentation (e.g., vendor contact info, W-9 forms).
  7. Reconcile accounts and vendor statements, addressing discrepancies, over/under payments, and credits.
  8. Assist the Maintenance Department with data entry into RTA.
  9. Contact customers with delinquent accounts via phone, email, and mail to collect balances.
  10. Record all customer payments daily.
  11. Review customer credit history through Equifax and contact credit references as needed.
  12. Collaborate with sales representatives to review customer account statuses.
  13. Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned by the District Controller.
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of related accounting experience or post-secondary studies in a relevant field.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Numerical aptitude and data accuracy.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Full cycle accounting experience is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment requirements.
