Baker Tilly HMA LLP is looking for a full-time and permanent Accounting Technician to join our firm located out of our Thompson office.

Whether an experienced entry level candidate, or someone looking to start out on their journey towards a CPA designation, Baker Tilly is the place to develop your career.

We’ll support your development as an accountant every step of the way, providing you with the real-life experience you need to become an accredited CPA or expert accounting technician. Whilst classrooms and accounting theory are important, the collective experience made available to junior staff through our existing staff will take you to the next level, mentoring you at every stage on a wide variety of projects.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Filling an important role in the completion of assurance engagements for a variety of clients directly performing assurance procedures using established processes.
• Review client information and prepare query lists.
• Assist with the completion of personal and corporate income tax returns.
• Prepare client files in a paperless environment.
• A variety of basic analysis on client files.
• Growth of your knowledge and professional skill set.

A successful candidate will have:

• A base level of accounting knowledge and some experience preferred.
• Good written and verbal communication skills with individuals at all levels.
• Strong analytical skills along with attention to detail and a willingness to learn and develop.
• An awareness of, or experience with accounting software.
• Interest in obtaining additional education in accounting.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically MS Excel.
