Job summary

American Iron & Metal Company (AIM) is a global leader in metal recycling with a long history and 125 locations. We are seeking a detail-oriented accountant to join our General Accounting team in Saint John, NB.

Reporting to the General Accounting Supervisor, you will perform bank reconciliations, prepare journal entries, process billing and accounts payable, and support inter-branch communications while maintaining accuracy under deadlines.

Qualifications

• DEC/DEP in accounting or equivalent college diploma.
• 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Proficient in accounting principles and software.
• Fluent in English and French.

Job Description

Reporting to the General Accounting Supervisor, with whom they work closely, the incumbent actively participates in the monthly analysis of general ledger accounts.

What you’re responsible for:

• Perform bank reconciliations;
• Prepare journal entries;
• Process billing;
• Process accounts payable;
• Complete petty cash and general ledger reconciliations;
• Maintain regular communication with branch managers;
• Work closely with all members of the department;
• Perform any other related duties.

Qualifications

To Join Our Team:

• College diploma or vocational diploma (DEC or DEP) in accounting;
• Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in a similar position; experience in the retail industry is considered an asset;
• Good general understanding of computer systems and accounting software;
• Excellent knowledge of accounting principles;
• Ability to manage a high volume of work;
• Ability to quickly adapt to different situations;
• Ability to work simultaneously with multiple branches;
• Strong interpersonal skills;
• Bilingualism in English and French is required.
• Detail-oriented, able to work under pressure, and capable of completing assigned tasks efficiently and within tight deadlines;
• Strong analytical skills and initiative;
