Job summary

KATIMAVIK seeks an accounting professional for a temporary role in its Quebec bakery. You will manage payroll, maintain ledgers, post journal entries, and prepare financial reports in a fast-paced shop setting.

Knowledge of Fidelio and MS Office is preferred. Strong attention to detail, dependability, and organizational skills are essential to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with internal controls.

Qualifications

• College or diploma in accounting or payroll related field (3 months to <1 year).
• 2 years to <3 years of experience in accounting or payroll.
• Experience with payroll processing and financial record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Calculate and prepare cheques for payroll.
• Maintain general ledgers and financial statements.
• Post journal entries and reconcile accounts.
• Prepare payroll statements and reports.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
• Audit accounting records for accuracy and compliance.

• Calculate and prepare cheques for payroll
• Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems
• Maintain general ledgers and financial statements
• Post journal entries
• Prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports
• Prepare trial balance of books
• Reconcile accounts
• May perform a variety of office management and clerical duties
• Recommend improvements to accounting systems and management practices

• Ensure accuracy and compliance to accounting standards, procedures and internal control
• Audit accounting records to determine income, exemptions, payable taxes, compliance with reporting regulations and existence of fraud
• Notify debtors of overdue accounts and payments
• Prepare statements of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net salaries and deductions such as taxes, union dues, garnishments and insurance and pension plans
