KPMG in Canada is looking for an Accounting Technician to support payroll and bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients on the South Shore of Montreal. You will manage multiple client accounts under guidance, ensuring accurate payroll processing and timely financial records.

The role requires 5+ years of related experience, strong French communication, and proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Office, with knowledge of Acomba considered an asset. English proficiency is essential for client presentations.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting and Management or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience with equivalent duties.
  • Member of National Payroll Institute/Canadian Payroll Association an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in French.
  • Demonstrated expertise in monthly accounting and balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office and QuickBooks; Acomba an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform payroll tasks for a group of small clients.
  • Perform monthly bookkeeping tasks, bank reconciliation, receivable and payables, etc.
  • Prepare GST/QST reports.
  • Prepare tax slips such as T4s/RL1s, T5s and other relevant slips.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients.
  • Occasionally travel to client premises, if required.

As a Accounting Technician, you will have the opportunity to support the growth of the broader KPMG family and to work closely with our Montreal South Shore, as well as with our clients, in managing the payroll cycle and bookkeeping activities. Your organisational skills and resourcefulness will enable you to effectively manage the accounting for multiple clients and ensure they receive superior-quality service, all under the guidance of experienced colleagues.

What you will do

  • Organizational skills.
  • Positive attitude in situations that may differ from engagement to engagement and under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to manage several files simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams.

The selected candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly explain and simplify complex audit and reporting matters for diverse audiences. Proficiency in English is required, as the position involves communicating and delivering presentations to clients and stakeholders at KPMG Canada in English‑speaking regions of Canada.
