Job description

We are hiring an Accounting Research Manager who will be responsible for providing meaningful, credible and timely accounting research to our Senior Management team in support of all highly technical matters, specifically potential restructurings, acquisitions, dispositions, financings, risk management activities, complex transactions and agreements.

Responsibilities:
  • Review or write accounting position papers for highly complex technical accounting matters, ensuring conclusions reached are reasonable, demonstrate a clear understanding of the business transaction and applicable accounting guidance and communicate with all impacted stakeholders.
  • Monitor, and implement when applicable, accounting standards set by FASB and SEC that could impact Enbridge's accounting policies, practices and disclosures.
  • Review or prepare disclosures in periodic reports filed with the SEC as it relates to complex technical accounting matters and/or new or non-standard transactions, where necessary, and ensure accuracy and completeness of such information.
  • Resolve questions and comments on proposed accounting and disclosures on complex technical accounting matters with external auditors, when necessary.
  • Maintain strong relationships with the various Finance and Corporate Development/Business Development departments to serve as a technical accounting resource for highly complex technical accounting inquiries.
  • Provide guidance and support to Accounting Research & Valuations team in performing their day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Provide accounting and valuation due diligence for merger and acquisition targets and divestitures.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business or equivalent.
  • Professional accounting designation - CPA.
  • 10 or more years of directly related accounting/finance experience, including experience working in big four accounting firm(s)
  • Expert knowledge of US GAAP, strong knowledge of IFRS.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Strong analytical, communicative and interpersonal skills - both written and oral.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several project deadlines concurrently.
  • High level of personal and professional integrity.
