Job summary

Lotus Group in Red Deer, Alberta is seeking a highly skilled Public Practice Manager to lead accounting, tax, and advisory services for owner-managed businesses. You will guide engagement teams, ensure deadlines, and foster client-focused collaboration.

You will oversee compilation and review engagements, corporate and personal tax work, and strengthen client relationships while mentoring junior staff in a fast-paced public practice environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in public practice accounting.
• CPA designation would be an asset, however equivalent experience and qualifications will be considered.
• Proficiency with accounting and tax software, including CaseWare, Profile, Sage, and QuickBooks.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE and related frameworks).

Responsibilities

• Meeting multiple client deadlines, including financial reporting, bank reporting, and tax compliance requirements.
• Prepare complex compilation and review engagement files in accordance with professional standards.
• Prepare and review corporate and personal income tax returns, including complex filings.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring ongoing compliance with all tax obligations.
• Prepare and present financial information using Excel, Word, and accounting software such as CaseWare/CaseView.
• Communicate with tax authorities to resolve discrepancies and review client account matters.
• Ensure compliance with ASPE and the Income Tax Act.
• Supporting junior team members, answsering questions and sharing knowledge.
• Assist partners in managing workflow, file organization, and overall practice efficiency.

• Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven, high-pressure environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
