Job summary

Stevenson & White in Ottawa is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the organization’s financial operations and lead all accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures, as well as preparing financial statements and reporting to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• University degree in business or accounting.
• 4+ years of progressive experience, with management responsibilities.
• Strong skills in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to lead teams and manage projects under tight deadlines.
• Experience with Business Central (Dynamics) is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting, payroll, AP/AR, and statutory reporting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Lead year-end audit and ensure audited statements.
• Manage capital assets, tracking and controls.
• Collaborate with operations and sales to improve processes and margins.
• Guide financial systems, reporting, and data analysis.
• Monitor performance against budgets and deliver ad hoc reports.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and internal controls.

In this role, you will oversee the organization’s financial operations and direct all accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures, as well as preparing financial statements and reporting to senior leadership. You are a critical thinker and persuasive communicator, energetic and deadline-driven. You lead with a positive, hands-on approach, inspiring your team by example. The main responsibilities include:

• Lead, mentor, develop, and support the finance team


• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, payroll, AP/AR, and statutory reporting


• Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements


• Lead the year-end audit and ensure accurate preparation of audited financial statements


• Manage capital assets, tracking, reconciliation and other financial controls


• Collaborate with operations and sales to improve processes, support system implementation, and optimize pricing, costing and margins


• Guide financial systems, reporting and data analysis to support informed decision-making


• Monitor performance against budgets and deliver timely ad hoc reporting to support evolving business priorities


• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures and internal controls

Qualifications:

What’s the Bottom Line:

• $95,000 - $120,000 salary range


• 4 weeks’ vacation (closed at Christmas, 1 week, paid)
