Job description

We’re currently working with a well-established client in the construction and financial services sector in Canada, and we're excited to share a fantastic opportunity for an Accounting Clerk. This role is perfect for someone eager to grow professionally and gain deep insights into the financial workings of the construction industry. Our client is part of a leading international group with a rich history and their growth has largely been fueled by strategic acquisitions and globalization.

Key Responsibilities :

Transaction Processing :

  • Enter and process various financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and payments with precision.
  • Ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded and compliant with company policies.

Reconciliations & Record Maintenance :

  • Perform regular bank and account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Review and validate records for discrepancies, identifying and rectifying any errors or irregularities.
  • Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for audit purposes.
  • Assist in generating periodic reports, summaries, and schedules for the finance team.
  • Manage interactions with both internal and external customers to resolve discrepancies or obtain additional information as required.
  • Collaborate with vendors regarding payments and invoice clarifications.

Compliance & Administrative Support :

  • Adhere to internal control standards and regulatory requirements related to financial operations.
  • Provide general administrative support to the accounting department as needed.

Qualifications :

  • Excel Expertise : Proficient in advanced Excel functions, including VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, pivot tables, and logical functions (IF, SUMIF)
  • Transactional Accounting : Strong background in transactional accounting, equipped with robust investigative and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-Oriented : Exceptionally meticulous when reviewing and authenticating financial transactions, consistently identifying errors and recommending corrective actions
  • Audit Compliance : Deep understanding of internal audit requirements, ensuring compliance and mitigating audit risks
  • Stakeholder Management : Proven ability to effectively manage relationships with both internal and external customers
