Role Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting & Bookkeeping Specialist to join our team in Toronto, ON. In this role, you will manage financial records, prepare reports, ensure compliance with tax regulations, and support the overall financial health of our clients' businesses. This is a full-time, on-site position ideal for someone with a strong background in accounting and bookkeeping who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-cycle accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and month-end/year-end closing procedures.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including adjusting and reversing entries, to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and promptly resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare accurate financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) in accordance with Canadian accounting standards.
  • Assist in preparing and filing corporate tax returns while ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
  • Maintain and update fixed asset registers, calculate depreciation, and ensure proper asset tracking.
  • Prepare working papers and supporting documentation for audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting standards.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to aid in strategic decision-making.
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders to address accounting-related inquiries and provide professional guidance.
  • Assist with payroll processing and government remittances as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping, preferably within an accounting firm.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and Canadian tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero, along with advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions and team collaboration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA certification is considered an asset.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is beneficial.
