T&T Supermarket in Markham, Ontario is seeking an Accounting Associate to support daily accounting tasks for the Finance & Accounting Department. You will ensure invoice accuracy and compliance with tax rules, while supporting month-end A/P closing and data reconciliation.

The role requires a university/college accounting major and at least one year of accounting experience, with proficiency in Macola, MS Word, and Excel.

• Complete University/College education with major in Accounting.
• 1 year of working experience in accounting areas.
• Computer literate, including Macola, MS Word, and Excel.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills; able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
• Able to communicate in English; ability to speak Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is an asset.
• Meticulous with a strong attention to detail.
• Able to work in a fast-paced office environment with minimum supervision.
• Able to handle confidential information professionally and in an ethical manner.
• Demonstrates a keen sense of urgency and commitment to meet multiple deadlines.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, the Accounting Associate will be responsible for providing daily accounting duties and administrative support for the Finance & Accounting Department, ensures the accuracy of invoices, and to comply with the applicable tax laws, accepted accounting practices, rules, and regulations.

You Will

• Ensure accuracy and consistency of invoices & documents to comply with all applicable requirements
• Check supplier invoices and place them in order
• Ensure items are coded to proper accounts
• Responsible for preparing monthly closing of A/P
• Possess analytical skills to find discrepancies between A/P input and G/L
• Verify that incoming invoices match the provincial & federal tax rules
• Stay current with all regulations, practices, and industry trends
• Perform periodic &/or ad hoc sales reconciliation
• Perform any other duties as required

You Should Have / Be

• Complete University/College education with major in Accounting
• 1 year of working experience in accounting areas
• Computer literate, including effective working skills of Macola (training will be provided), MS Word, and Excel
• Strong analytical and organizational skills; able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Able to communicate in English and ability to speak Chinese (Cantonese &/or Mandarin) is an asset
• Meticulous with a strong attention to detail
• Able to work in a fast-paced office environment with minimum supervision
• Able to handle confidential information professionally and in an ethical manner
• Demonstrates a keen sense of urgency and commitment to follow up and meet multiple deadlines without compromising on work quality

Shift

5-day work week (Monday to Friday), 9:00am – 5:30pm (Actual working hours may vary slightly by department, depending on operational needs.)
