Job summary

The HeadHunter Group is recruiting on behalf of a Canadian client in the health and safety consulting industry for an Accountant position in Toronto. The role focuses on managing financial records, payroll coordination, and regulatory compliance, supporting the organization’s financial stability and efficiency.

Key duties include A/P and A/R, general ledger, monthly/ quarterly/ annual reporting, budgeting, payroll processing, and statutory filings.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2-3 years accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (or similar accounting software) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian tax regulations and payroll processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Process invoices, payments, and bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain general ledger and ensure accurate financial records.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting.
  • Process payroll and ensure accuracy of deductions and remittances.
  • Prepare and submit statutory filings (HST, payroll remittances, WSIB, etc.).
  • Assist with T4 and year-end reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal tax regulations.
  • Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow projections.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to management.
  • Identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Support internal and external audits.

Position Overview

The Accountant plays a key role in managing the companys financial records, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. This individual supports management with financial analysis, bookkeeping, payroll coordination, and regulatory compliance while contributing to the overall financial stability and efficiency of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.

  • Ensure proper record retention in accordance with regulations.
  • Coordinate with external accountants and auditors as required.
  • Work closely with management and administrative staff.
  • Provide financial updates and insights for decision-making.
  • Handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Education: Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks (or similar accounting software) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian tax regulations and payroll processes.
