Job description

Our client, a public practice accounting firm is seeking an accountant with three to five years’ experience to be a member of their team located in Kelowna, BC. The firm has been growing significantly, supporting clients in many industries including professional services, manufacturing, construction, hospitality, retail, automotive and farming.

Roles and responsibilities for this position :

• Preparation of compilation engagements.
• Preparation of corporate and personal tax returns.
• Conducting full-cycle bookkeeping including preparation of GST, PST, WCB and other such returns.

As the successful candidate, you have the proven ability to work effectively with the team.You have very good communication skills, and you strive for operational excellence.This is a full-time role, however as a progressive employer, the firm is happy to consider candidates that require flexibility with hours to start, and then work towards full time.

Qualifications and experience requirements :

• 3 or more years of accounting experience including working on compilation engagements, corporate and personal tax returns, preferably in a public practice environment.
• Accounting diploma and / or a combination of education and experience will be considered; a professional accounting designation is not required for this position.
• Previous experience with CaseWare, Taxprep / Profile or other tax software, Sage and QuickBooks.
• Strong computer literacy including MS Office Suite.
• Strong inter-personal and multitasking skills.
• Effective working independently as well as a team player.
• Ability to handle multiple deadlines and priorities with strong organizational skills.
• Attention to detail and a positive disposition with “yes-I-can-do-that” attitude.
