Job summary

Myticas Consulting Inc. seeks an experienced Accountant to join its Finance & Accounting team on a permanent basis in Ontario. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong ERP/Excel skills, and exposure to payroll in a manufacturing/operational setting.

You will manage AP/AR/GL, assist with month-end close, prepare journal entries and tax filings, and collaborate across departments to support financial reporting.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AP/AR, GL, month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and government/statutory filings.
  • ERP/accounting system experience and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting: AP, AR, GL and bank transactions.
  • Support month-end close processes and journal entries.
  • Perform reconciliations and prepare financial schedules.
  • Assist with payroll activities and statutory filings.

Job description

Accountant

Our client is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its Finance & Accounting team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a well-rounded accounting professional who enjoys a hands-on role within a manufacturing/operational environment and has the ability and ambition to take on greater responsibility over time. The successful candidate will have approximately 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong general accounting knowledge, advanced Excel skills, ERP/accounting systems experience, and exposure to payroll. Experience within manufacturing, distribution, logistics or a similar product-based environment is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger and bank transactions.
  • Support and take ownership of components of the month-end close process.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments and accounting adjustments.
  • Perform bank, credit card and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Review GL accounts and investigate discrepancies or unusual transactions.
  • Reconcile intercompany transactions across multiple companies/entities.
  • Prepare financial schedules and supporting documentation for monthly and year-end reporting.
  • Assist with financial and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and submit government remittances and statutory filings, including HST, WSIB and EHT.
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits and other financial reporting requirements.
  • Support payroll activities, including payroll inputs, reconciliations, reporting and discrepancy resolution.
  • Work collaboratively with Finance and other departments across the organization.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable
    • General Ledger
    • Month-end close
    • Reconciliations
    • Journal entries
    • Government/statutory filings
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and general ledger processes.
  • Hands-on experience with an ERP/accounting system.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP and data analysis.
  • Some practical payroll experience/exposure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Accounting experience within manufacturing, distribution, logistics or another operational/product-based organization.
  • Experience working within a multi-entity or multi-company accounting environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX, AX 2009 and/or Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O).
  • Experience with QuickBooks Desktop and/or QuickBooks Online.
  • Exposure to ERP integrations and related business applications.
  • Experience supporting payroll within a mixed salaried/hourly workforce; exposure to piece-work payroll is an asset.
  • Professional accounting designation or progress toward a designation such as CPA is considered an asset.
