Job summary

StoneRidge Insurance Brokers is seeking a mid to senior level Accountant to support financial reporting and day-to-day accounting across multiple entities. You will assist month-end closes, consolidate trial balances, prepare journal entries, and maintain accurate general ledger records using QuickBooks and Applied Epic.

This is an in-office, permanent role in the Greater Toronto Area. Ideal candidates have at least two years of accounting experience, a diploma or certificate in accounting,

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of relevant financial accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of ASPE and month-end closes, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Proficiency with Excel and accounting systems; QuickBooks and Applied Epic are assets.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume work under deadlines.
• Clear communication and ability to work independently and with confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end closes, reconciliations, and reporting within accelerated timelines.
• Prepare and consolidate trial balances across multiple entities.
• Prepare/post journal entries and maintain general ledger records.
• Process invoices, expenses, card transactions, and payments with accuracy.
• Assist with year-end audit preparation and provide day-to-day accounting support.

StoneRidge Insurance Brokers is seeking a mid to senior level Accountant to support financial reporting and day-to-day accounting across multiple entities. In this role, you will support month-end closes, consolidate trial balances, prepare journal entries, and maintain accurate general ledger records using systems such as QuickBooks and Applied Epic. You will bring strong attention to detail and the ability to manage high-volume accounting activities within tight reporting deadlines.

Job Type: In Office, Full Time, Permanent

Work Location: Markham,Hamilton or Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada

Pay: Starting from $60,000 annually

What You Will Do

• Support month-end financial closes, ensuring transactions, reconciliations, and reporting are completed accurately within accelerated timelines.
• Prepare and consolidate trial balances across multiple entities to support financial reporting.
• Prepare and post journal entries, maintain general ledger records, and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Process and reconcile invoices, employee expenses, credit card transactions, and payments, ensuring accurate records and timely processing.
• Maintain organized financial documentation and follow accounting controls, company policies, and applicable reporting standards.
• Assist with year-end audit preparation and provide day-to-day accounting support and coverage within the finance team.
• Other finance-related activities as assigned.

What You Bring

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant financial accounting experience and a certificate or diploma in accounting or a related field.
• Working knowledge of financial accounting and reporting standards, including ASPE, with experience supporting month-end closes, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and accounting systems; experience with QuickBooks and Applied Epic is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage high-volume work and competing priorities within tight deadlines.
• Clear communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively while handling confidential financial information with care.
