Here's how an Accountant for our Halifax office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

• Performs general accounting and administrative functions to meet contractual requirements for operational and basic accounting.
• Completes all financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
• Provides project teams with ad hoc reports and analysis as the need arises.
• Assists with the assembly of information for internal and external financial reporting requirements.
• Assembles client billings packages in accordance with contract terms and conditions and ensures timely payment.
• Prepares and maintains the Subcontractor qualification process for our risk insurance program called Subcontract Default Insurance (SDI).
• Meets with subcontractors both on site and off site, as needed, to evaluate, obtain, and approve prequalification information, including financial statements.
• Coordinates SDI insurance claims and compiles claim reports as required.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• 1 year of accounting experience in construction or insurance industry preferred.
• Understanding of full-cycle accounting.
• Knowledge of government legislation and generally accepted accounting principles.
• Exposure to owner contracts as they relate to payment terms and billing requirements.
• Exposure to subcontract purchase order terms, including insurance and subcontractor default insurance requirements (preferred).
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including MS Office and any financial software.
