Job summary

Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc in Vancouver seeks an Account Specialist 1 to manage day-to-day financial administration, premium and commission accounts, and bank data controls. This role supports regulatory compliance and team procedures while fostering collaboration in a hybrid work environment.

The role requires 1–2 years of Group Insurance financial experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work 2–3 days in office weekly.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Analyze and process client/broker premium and commission accounts.
• Control high volume data from the bank for client payments, investigating discrepancies and non-payment with a focus on customer retention.
• Daily and monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
• Preparation of daily bank deposits, including generation of corresponding journals.
• Collaborate with team members and business units to streamline and document processes.
• Generation of client refund cheques.
• Coordinate with other Account Specialists to rotate office tasks.
• Analyze financial control reports and take appropriate actions.
• Prepare accounting entries and/or manual premium adjustments.
• Develop and maintain standard financial team documentation for processes and procedures.

This role would be based in Vancouver and would have an in office requirement of 2-3 days in office per week.

What you’ll accomplish with us

As an Account Specialist 1, you’ll be at the core of our mission. Here are the main responsibilities:

The typical hiring range for this position is between $50,000 and $55,000 CAD per year; the base salary offered may vary depending on knowledge, skills, years of experience, and internal equity related to the role.
