Job summary

Canada Life is actively seeking an Account Manager in the Ottawa region to strengthen relationships with advisors and lead the end-to-end sales process for group benefit clients.

You will collaborate with consultants, plan sponsors, and client staff to ensure smooth implementation and client satisfaction while promoting additional products and services. Travel flexibility and strong presentation skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience or exposure to group benefits/insurance is required.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong mathematical and numerical abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with advisors to achieve annual sales targets.
  • Manage the sales process from RFP to finalist presentation.
  • Develop and implement business plans to reach targets through new and existing clients.
  • Collaborate with consultants/advisors, sponsors, and staff to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Work with the Group Customer team to drive Canada Life's success in the market.
  • Promote additional products and services to enhance client retention.

The Account Manager partners with brokers in the Ottawa region to lead the quoting, renewal, and amendment processes that ultimately drive increased premiums for group benefit clients.

What you will do
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with advisors to achieve annual sales targets
  • Manage the sales process from request for proposal to finalist presentation
  • Develop and implement business plans to achieve annual sales targets through new and existing client relationships
  • Work closely with consultants/advisors, plan sponsors, and client relationship staff to ensure client satisfaction through our new business implementation process
  • Work collaboratively with the Group Customer team to ensure Canada Life’s success in this market
  • Promote additional products and services with consultants/advisors, clients and client relationship managers to enhance client retention
  • Be a strong ambassador of the Canada Life brand in the industry and community
What you will bring
  • Experience or exposure to the field of group benefits/insurance and/orgroup life insurance, healthcare insurance, disability insurance, underwriting
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written with an enthusiasm for doing presentations.
  • Excellent mathematical skills
  • Ability to act quickly and put forward innovative solutions
  • Ability to work in a fast evolving environment and adapt to growth and change
  • Proven negotiation and public speaking skills
  • Strong sales and interpersonal skills as well as motivation to achieve business objectives
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle, & flexibility to travel
  • Designation of C.A.A.S. [certified group benefits advisor], GBA (Group Benefits Associate), or CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) is a significant asset

The base salary for this position is between $52,500 - $87,500 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc). If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
