Job description

Our client is searching for an Account Manager, Group Benefits. This role will be responsible for maintaining relationships with new and existing clients, providing information and guidance on all aspects of group benefits plan design, implementation, and ongoing support. A successful candidate will provide excellent customer service to all clients. This role reports directly to the Head of Group Benefits.

Your success will be defined by your ability to :
  1. Meet with current and prospective clients to obtain employee benefit data, plan design, employee census data, cost-sharing arrangements, premium/rate structure, historical premiums, claims, and experience data.
  2. Review and analyze plan designs, providing comments, recommendations, and advice.
  3. Design customized employee benefit plans for organizations, considering budget constraints.
  4. Compile and summarize information for submission to the underwriting team.
  5. Assist in presenting employee benefit proposals to current and prospective clients to secure their business.
  6. Draft employee communications and coordinate with clients.
  7. Coordinate employee enrollment with client human resources staff.
  8. Answer general employee benefits queries from clients.
  9. Assist clients with employee claims or claims management issues.
  10. Build and establish relationships within the team and with external partners.
  11. Support sales and business development teams in selling and quoting new business.
  12. Support the client management team as required.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Your strengths include :
  1. 3+ years of related experience with in-depth knowledge of group benefit products, financial mechanisms, and applicable legislation across Canada.
  2. Post-secondary education in Business Administration or equivalent experience is considered an asset.
  3. Life and Accident and Sickness licenses are considered assets; licensing within 6 months of starting may be required depending on duties.
  4. Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation or Group Benefits Association (GBA) membership is an asset.
  5. Experience with brokerage, consulting, and carrier environments is a strong asset.
  6. Proficiency in MS Office, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  7. Fluent in English, with proven verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Proficiency in French is an asset.
  9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  10. Clean driving record and valid Class 5 license.
  11. Willingness to travel occasionally, including out-of-town or overnight trips.
